Clavesana is the area that is home to Claviva: a municipality of hills, rural hamlets, vineyards and panoramic views, overlooking the Tanaro valley and marked by its distinctive badlands, shaped by erosion over time. Dogliani is one of the closest and most authentic destinations. The historic center deserves a stroll among arcades, squares and village views, with a stop at the Parish Church of Santi Quirico e Paolo, one of the village’s most recognizable buildings. The area also has scenic viewpoints and a Big Bench, perfect for a short photo outing among the hills.

It’s also an interesting stop for those wanting to get closer to local wine: Dogliani is linked to Dolcetto di Dogliani, its wineries, and a more spontaneous, less touristy dining scene compared to the more famous Langhe villages.

Carrù is a less “postcard-perfect” destination compared to the more famous villages, but very interesting for those who want to discover the most traditional Piedmontese cuisine. It’s known above all for Bue Grasso di Carrù (fattened beef) and the culture of bollito misto, which draws enthusiasts and gourmet travelers in autumn and winter.

Beyond its culinary side, Carrù is also useful as a strategic point: its proximity to the motorway makes it easier to travel to Turin, Liguria and other parts of Piedmont. For those who love traveling between food and territory, it can become a concrete, authentic stop, perhaps paired with a day among the wineries and villages of the Langhe.

Monforte d’Alba is one of the most beautiful and recognizable villages in the Langhe. The historic center climbs toward the upper part of the village, through alleys, stone houses and views over the vineyards. Don’t miss the Auditorium Horszowski area, an open-air semicircular square also used for events and concerts, with Palazzo Scarampi and the historic buildings around it.

It’s the perfect stop for combining culture, landscape and wine: from Monforte you enter the heart of the Barolo Langa, with wineries, restaurants and scenic roads leading toward Barolo, La Morra and Serralunga d’Alba.

The best-known Langhe are those of wine, vineyards and iconic villages. From Claviva you can easily reach the Barolo area, with stops such as Monforte d’Alba, Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga d’Alba and Grinzane Cavour.

It’s the ideal area for organizing a day of wineries, tastings, castles and viewpoints. La Morra is famous for its panoramic view over the vineyards, Barolo for its castle and the world of wine, Serralunga for its medieval profile, while Grinzane Cavour is home to one of the most representative castles of the Piedmontese wine landscape. The wine-growing landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato are recognized by UNESCO for their vineyards, villages, farmhouses, historic wineries, towers and medieval castles

Alta Langa is the closest and most natural area to explore starting from Claviva: higher hills, woods, hazelnut groves, pastures and small villages, often less crowded than the Langhe wine country. It’s ideal for those who love walks, scenic routes, bike excursions and open landscapes.

Destinations worth considering include Murazzano, with its panoramic Torre Maestra and the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine di Hal, Bossolasco, known as the village of roses, Mombarcaro, the highest point of the Langhe, and small villages like Bergolo or Roccaverano, perfect for a slow itinerary among stone, nature and local traditions. Murazzano is also known for its DOP cheese.

Turin is a perfect cultural day trip.
